Data ribbon
cable and adapter to enable the plugging in for an external Gotek/OpenFlops usb
floppy disk emulator drive in the rear disk drive port of A500* / A500+ /
A600 / A1200 / A2000 / A4000 Commodore Amiga computers.
Power for your Gotek/OpenFlops drive is also provided by this cable and adapter.
NO GOTEK/OPENFLOPS USB DRIVE OR USB STICK IS PROVIDED - PHOTOS ARE TO SHOW USAGE. THIS LISTING IS JUST FOR THE CABLE ADAPTER.
Great
for adding an External USB Gotek/OpenFlops floppy disk emulator drive to your Amiga as a second drive so you
can backup your floppies or boot from USB (as it is external it is a
nice non-destructive upgrade to your Amiga and means you can keep your
original existing floppy disk drive too!)
Works with Amiga 500 (see
below note) / 500+ / 600 / 1200 / 2000 / 4000 etc using 23pin external
Amiga Disk Drive port for power and data connection to drive. This means
there is just a single neat ribbon cable with plug on the end.
This cable "just works" plug and play on most Amiga models and you can hold
down two mouse buttons at boot to choose the drive to boot from, except
for Amiga 500... This does also works with Amiga 500 but
you'll need a boot selector to convert SEL0 and SEL1 signals to make
your DF1 bootable. (Gotek Drive will be recognised as second Floppy
Drive DF1 when connected
to the Disk Drive port and will be recognised as DF2 or DF3 when it is
connected to another external floppy drive.)
These are
tested on an Amiga 4000 and Amiga 600 before despatch, which you can
see in the
photos. The only minor thing you'll need to do to connect the cable
adapter is
remove one port lug screw from your external floppy port - the cable
uses uses a more modern plug which only fits your Amiga once the lug (or
securing nut) has been removed from one side of your external drive
port. (See photos showing this).
EXTRA
UPGRADE OPTIONS - WE ALSO OFFER GOTEK/OPENFLOPS DRIVES, CASES, ENCLOSURES, OLED
DISPLAY, ROTARY ENCODER, FLOPPY SPEAKER SOUNDS AND MORE. PLEASE SEE RELATED ITEMS BELOW OR USE THE SEARCH.
Note: Booting directly from a Gotek/OpenFlops external floppy with your Amiga will depend on the games or
software used, some are hardcoded to only run from DF0:. This has
been tested in Workbench too as a 2nd drive and shows up as DF1: / DF2:
etc no problem. Also can be used with applications like X-copy to
backup floppy disks to usb or vice versa!
